THE Marquess of Bath is the 18th richest person in the south west, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.
Lord Bath, 73, whose 10,000-acre Longleat estate is near Warminster, ranks 420th in the UK with a fortune of £120m. Other Wiltshire-based entries include Harry Hyams, whose wealth has dropped to £290m after £80m worth of art treasures were stolen from his Ramsbury Manor estate, near Marlborough, in February.
Sting, who has seven homes, one of which is a 60-acre Jacobean mansion near Salisbury, is ranked 13th in the south west and 318th in the UK with a fortune of £185m. Madonna and Guy Ritchie, who live on a 1,200-acre estate near Tollard Royal, on the Dorset/Wiltshire border, are worth £248m and ranked 251st in the list.
The Sunday Times Rich List is based on identifiable wealth such as land, property, other assets such as art and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly quoted companies, but excludes bank accounts.
