Wine expert Marco Pollderi from Trowbridge based wine cellar Red or White has selected four high-quality wines to complement a traditional four-course meal.
- Tomato Soup
Sedlescombe Organic Dry White £8.99
This is a Riesling-style wine which is made from predominantly Bacchus and Reichsteiner grapes.
It is a lively young wine with a zesty grass and elderflower aroma, with subtle hints of honey and grapes and a lovely, gently acidic crisp finish.
- Roast Lamb
Camel Valley Red, £10.95
This wine is a deep red colour with intense berry aromas and subtle spice flavours that linger on to give a long-lasting fruity finish.
- Apple Pie
Three Choirs May Hill 2004, £5.99
A blended wine of Huxelrebe, Madeleine Angevine and Reichsteiner which has a floral aroma. It is a medium, well balanced wine that has a rich honeyed fruit flavour. It's finish is wonderfully crisp but clean, making it an ideal accompaniment to the apples.
- Cheese course
Nyetimber Prestige Cuve 1996, £22.49
This is a crisp and elegant sparkling wine with wonderful honey and citrus aromas. It has an exceptional chardonnay flavour with a lingering finish that makes this an outstanding alternative to champagne. It is a perfect partner for a dessert of fine cheese and biscuits.
