Pan-Asian cuisine is a delicious fusion of flavours from all over Asia including Thai, Japanese, Malaysian, Chinese and Indian dishes.
Spices and ingredients are combined to create unique taste sensations that give a real flavour of the exotic east.
Even within one country's cuisine there are many regional differences. Historical and geographical factors have all influenced how local produce is used and eaten.
One thing that all the Asian countries have in common is their use of fresh, readily available ingredients and spices to flavour the food.
Flavours are fresh and often quite hot tasting, sometimes dishes are made milder in the UK as we're not used to tastes such as the extra-fiery Chinese chillies that can numb the entire mouth.
Most pan-Asian dishes are quick and simple to prepare. There is more emphasis on lots of small meals, rather than starters and side dishes. In most Asian countries fruit is the only form of dessert, although places like India are famed for their incredibly sugary sweets.
But you don't need to travel the whole of the continent to get a taste of the Orient. Right here in Wiltshire it's possible to sample all of the culinary delights of Asia without having to go anywhere near an airport.
Which is great news for all food-lovers looking for a new gourmet adventure.
