CORSHAM Centre have become the first Chippenham League side in 12 years to win the Wiltshire Sunday Cup.
The Premier Division leaders defeated one of the top sides in the Swindon League, County Ground SFC, 2-0 to become the first team from the league to lift the cup since 1994 when Shaw and Whitley Hibs were victorious.
Corsham Centre manager Pete Ralph set out his stall at the start of the season with his main aim for the year being to win the competition and bring the cup back to the league a promise that few thought possible.
However Ralph's belief in his young side proved to be spot on as his team took the game to County Ground from the off and battled hard to emerge worthy winners.
The Centre got the opener in the 19th minute when County Ground goalkeeper Rob Harris did well to save a Scott Lye free kick but the rebound fell to Simon Gray, who thumped the ball home from close range.
Centre made the game safe in the 65th minute when Gray's cross was headed home by Russell Gibbings.
