SECOND Division Parsons Nose created one of the biggest ever upsets in the 39-year history of the presstoprint-sponsored Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout Cup when they defeated Biddestone Social 2-0 in the final at Chippenham Town's ground.
Parsons Nose ripped up the form book as they claimed a thoroughly deserved 2-0 victory over odds-on favourites Biddestone Social, who currently occupy second spot in the Premier Division.
Craig Townsend made the breakthrough for Parsons Nose after 35 minutes with a sublime strike from 30 yards that left Biddestone goal keeper Kevin Read rooted to the spot.
Deep into stoppage time Parsons Nose sealed their famous win when Josh Robinson pounced on a poor clearance and calmly tucked the ball away to give his side a 2-0 success, which proved their previous victories over Premier Division opponents West Lavington, Sherston Town, Maud Heath Sports and Corsham Cricket Club were no flukes as they made Biddestone their fifth and most impressive scalp in their amazing cup run.
Darren Whiting, of Parsons Nose, was named man-of-the-match, The medals were presented to both teams and officials by Charlie Rawlings a representative from cup sponsors presstoprint, with Rick Noonan picking up the cup for the winners.
