FIRE crews were called to Keevil Airfield on Monday evening as up to 100 empty oil drums caught alight.
The blaze broke out among the 25-gallon drums, pallets and trays at the airfield at about 6pm. Fire crews and equipment from Melksham, Westbury, Trowbridge, Pewsey and Devizes attended and the fire was put out by 8.30pm.
The airfield, four miles east of Trowbridge and near Steeple Ashton, is also used for motor racing, gliding and diving training and is the site of an annual 10km run.
