RIO de Janeiro is coming to Trowbridge with dancing, music and the carnival spirit.
Spotlight on Trowbridge has been renamed Community Spotlight and is due to take place in the town park in July, with a tribal and rainforest theme. Organiser Steve Nash said: "This year we are combining it with the beach party so Saturday will be very much a young people's event."
Revellers are invited to experience the tastes and sounds of countries from all around the world, while live music will provide non-stop entertainment throughout the weekend. There will be a steel band, local R&B dancers, O'Reelys will perform Irish and American sets, French music from Les Onions, English group Chipshop Boys, Salsa band Sambistas and Mexican music from Mextecca. There will also be Chinese acrobats, fairground rides, dancing and workshops.
Children will be able to take part in a fancy dress competition and then join in a carnival parade through the town and into the park on Saturday evening. On Saturday there will also be donkey rides and giant paddling pools with pedalos to keep the youngsters entertained.
The event will take place in the park from July 14-16. For more information contact Steve Nash on (01225) 710914 or at steve@trowbridge.gov.uk
