Bill Lapworth, who celebrates his 86th birthday this month, found himself without any shoes a couple of weeks ago they were taken by mistake and have never been returned.
So the honorary Broadstone member who plays at Sturminster Marshall bought himself a pair of new Cotswold shoes.
A few days later he learned that he had won a pair in the competition in the last edition of South West Golfer.
"It was splendid news and now I have a pair of Cotswolds for the winter and summer," he said.
Bill, who has had a quadruple heart bypass, still plays off 19. He once wrote a book on Broadstone Golf Club that has not yet been published.
