PARKING all day in council car parks across west Wiltshire will cost an extra 10p from next month but shoppers in Westbury and Warminster will get more free short term parking.
West Wiltshire District Council's cabinet agreed recommendations put to them on Wednesday but accepted further consultation was needed with Westbury and Warminster to finalise which car parks would offer free parking.
The all-day parking fee goes up to £3.60 in a bid to keep charges in line with inflation.
Westbury could see two hours free parking in the High Street and the option of no free parking or just one hour free in the Warminster Road car park, depending on the amount the town council is willing to contribute.
Speaking in the public forum, Cllr Bill Braid, of Westbury Town Council, said neither of these options were entirely suitable and suggested further consultation with the town council was needed.
In Warminster the Central car park will continue to see two hours free parking but, depending on how much the town council is willing to contribute, the Western car park could lose its free hour.
