Nicholas Gray died of a heart attack on Monday at the age of 47.

He grew up in Trowbridge and attended the Margaret Stancomb Nursery and Infant School, the Parochial Junior School and Trowbridge High School until he was 16.

He was an accomplished musician who played guitar and was head boy of the choir at St James Parish Church for many years.

He studied engineering at Trowbridge College and Chippenham College and went on to work at Rotork, in Bath.

He later left to join the Royal Navy where he stayed for a number of years. He was left devastated by the death of his father, Leslie, in 1980 following a four-year battle with cancer.

He lived in Plymouth for a time to be closer to his mother, Pat Hidvegi, but they had recently returned to Wiltshire.

Mr Gray is survived by his daughter, Alice.

The funeral will be held at St James Parish Church, Trowbridge on Thursday at 2pm. Donations can be made to Trowbridge Hard of Hearing Club.
