DAVID Giles moved to the county in August 2004 when he started work at the Wiltshire Times. The 25-year-old grew up in Newbury, Berkshire, before moving to Warminster. He leaves the Wiltshire Times this week to work on the Echo at Southend, Essex...

What do you like most about living in Wiltshire?

One of the best things about this county is Moles beer. Produced in Melksham it is fantastic and had some great names. Christmas: Moel Moel, World cup Molekeeper and for the year 2000 Molennium.

Where would you recommend for a great evening out and why?

My girlfriend and I have spent many happy hours drinking in the Old Bell in Warminster. I also think the Angel in Heytesbury is a really nice pub.

Who would be your ideal dining partner and why?

It would be Bob Woodward or Carl Bernstein, the Washington Post reporters who exposed Richard Nixon for the Watergate scandal. I don't think I'll top that in my journalistic career.

Which local landmark or attraction would you recommend?

I love the Western Arches in Chippenham. It makes me sound a bit odd but I really like bridges.

What is your favourite book and why?

I think the best book ever written is Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. My favourite would be Jack Kerouac's On the Road. Every time I read it I want to meet new people and go to new places.

Favourite music and why?

Strawberry Fields Forever is the greatest song of all time. I am very excited at the prospect of the new Blackbud album.

If you were to start a new business in the county what would it be and why?

A second hand record store selling rare vinyl, like in the film High Fidelity. I'd turn my nose up when people came in asking for the new James Blunt CD.

If there is one thing missing from the county what is it?

What I'd really like to have in Wiltshire would be some more friends.

Which annual event is a must and why?

The Wiltshire Times Christmas party.
