IN response to Richard M Hayes' comment in last week's edition on names and addresses of some of the readers who write in being withheld, I have to make a few points to him.

1Readers have a right to voice their opinion on any matters they feel strongly about.

2 They have the right to withhold their personal details if they fear any form of reprisals.

3 The paper has the right to contribute whatever editorial policies it chooses. These should not have to be changed to please one individual nor should letter writers who wish to get involved in a debate but remain anonymous be guilt-tripped.
