I AM writing to publicly praise and thank those councillors who have stood by their constituents in order to fight the extortionate rise in the town council precept.

Most notably, Cllrs Payne, Osborne, Rosier and Bryant have faithfully stood by views which represent those of the people of Trowbridge. It is reassuring to know that there are at least some members of the Town Council who listen to their constituents and respond to what they are telling them.

An astonishing 13 out of seven councillors placed their own opinions above those of the very people they were elected to represent. Have they forgotten that the very reason they hold their positions is due to a belief by the electorate that they will operate in their best interests?

I sincerely hope that come election time the people of Trowbridge will silence those who have proven that they have no right to a voice.

S Dilorio, Trowbridge
