ROAD safety is not always in the minds of many teenage drivers but Wiltshire College is hoping to change that.
Students at Wiltshire College Trowbridge got the chance to talk to those at the forefront of dealing with the consequences of road accidents at a special safety event. Student liaison officer Tim Cross said: "It was very well-received and we have had some positive feedback. If we can get just half of those to bear in mind what they are doing when they get in a car it is well worth it."
The police, fire brigade and Wiltshire's road safety unit were all on hand to answer questions from the 600 students who passed through the event during the day.
The event was planned off the back of recent similar safety days held at the Civic Hall, Trowbridge and another is now planned at Wiltshire College Lackham for students there and at Chippenham.
The aim is to show young people how devastating the consequences of driving without enough care and attention can be to both themselves and their families and to other people.
