CANCER patient Vanessa Kyte visited Trowbridge based Virgin Mobile to say thanks for their donation towards a CT scanner fundraising campaign.
The company donated £150,000 towards the campaign, which is part of the Forever Friends Appeal at the RUH in Bath. Vanessa, 41, from Rudge, called into the company's HQ as part of her week-long 85-mile March Miles marathon walk to raise money for the scanner.
Vanessa, who will finish her walk in Bath tomorrow, said: "Virgin Mobile's donation and the money raised through the walk are a great example of how corporate and community support can work together, helping the appeal to take positive steps towards achieving the overall campaign target."
Vanessa has been supported in her walk by her sister Nicola Noble and was joined for 13 miles by Virgin Mobile team manager Cheryl Buxton. The scanner will cost a total of £800,000 and the campaign still has £250,000 left to raise, but aims to have the new machine installed at the RUH by the autumn.
It is essential in the diagnosis of many different types of illness and injury, including cancer, strokes and multiple trauma and is used on patients of all ages.
