THE Incredible Hulk and Harry Potter paid a visit to a west Wiltshire school as children and staff dressed up as their favourite literary characters.
Trowbridge Parochial Junior School's Book Week saw pupils participate in various book-related activities to get them inspired about reading. They created treasure chests containing their favourite books and held drama workshops where they played the part of a character from a book.
Vanessa Muller, literacy coordinator at the school, said: "The children interviewed each other in character and asked them how they felt about a certain event in the book."
The school also held a book fair for children to buy ones they hadn't thought of reading before.
The week ended with a parade where children and members of staff dressed up as their favourite literary character. Costumes included Long John Silver, Stig of the Dump, Lucy from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Grandpa Jo from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and, of course, Harry Potter.
One member of staff even dressed up as the Incredible Hulk. The best costume from each year won the chance to choose whichever books they wanted from the book fair.
Miss Muller, said: "There was quite a range of costumes but we tried to choose winners who had put the most amount of effort into creating their outfit."
