HAYLEY MURDER TRIAL:THE mother of Hayley Richards said the family could take some comfort in knowing her murderer was behind bars.
Speaking outside Bristol Crown Court moments after Hugo Quintas was found guilty of murder on Wednesday, Christina Richards said she would treasure the memories of her daughter forever.
"We lost a wonderful person from our lives when Hayley was murdered and there is nothing that can ever make up for what happened to our family. It is, however, some consolation that someone has been found guilty of her murder.
"Hayley loved life, she was a pleasure to be around and we loved her very much. "She had so much to look forward to and would have continued to make people she came into contact with happy. "We will never forget her and will always treasure the memories of our time with her. She said the family had lost control of their lives since Miss Richards was murdered.
"Now the trial has concluded and justice has seemed to be done we will take this time to mourn Hayley in peace and to rebuild our own lives," she said. "Our wish is that no other family would ever go through what we've been through."
Mrs Richards thanked everyone in Trowbridge who had supported her and her family since the murder and gave special thanks to those in the Portuguese community. She went on to praise the support the family had received from Wiltshire Police in particular their liaison team.
Friends and work colleagues of Miss Richards also welcomed the guilty verdict this week and said their thoughts were with her family. Marco Polledri, owner of the Red or White restaurant where Miss Richards worked, said: "It goes without saying I am glad that justice has been done.
"It has been a long 12 months and I hope the trial can give her family at least some closure.
"It has been hard for my staff let alone for Hayley's family and I hope we can all now move on and remember Hayley for how she was and what she did rather than for the things said in the trial."
