HEROES and villains are lurking around every corner and in all the nooks and crannies of the pretty village of Lacock.
It is the fourth annual Scarecrow Trail and villagers have been hard at work making scarecrows to entertain and perplex visitors.
The idea for the trail came from the village school and nearly 50 homemade scarecrows all on the theme of heroes and villains are waiting to be found.
People taking part are given an answer sheet to take with them as they try to spot and identify the various models. Last year the event raised £4,500 for the school and the money raised this year will go towards completely refurbishing the school library.
Lucy Simms, who has two daughters Jessica, 11 and Elizabeth, seven at Lacock Primary School, helped organise the event. The family spent three weeks making a scarecrow, using recycled material. Mrs Simms said: "We took part last year and we are very excited about doing so again, it is really good fun."
The correct entries are put in a hat and prizes include a £250 voucher from Watlings gold and silversmiths, book tokens and vouchers for Whitehall Garden Centre.
It costs £1.50 to enter the competition and entry forms are available from various shops around the village. Forms should be returned to the school before 3.15pm on April 21.
- Answers will be available on the school website at www.lacockprimaryschool.ik.org from April 22.
