Stan Jones, 71, of Horse Road, Hilperton, has lived in and around Trowbridge all his life. A keen amateur historian, Mr Jones has vivid memories of growing up during the Second World War.
Married to Monica, 63, for almost 40 years, the couple have four children, Rachel, 36, Helen, 35, Annie, 34, and David, 30, all of whom live in Wiltshire. Mr and Mrs Jones are involved in church work with the North Bradley Baptist Church, and he also enjoys reading, gardening and listening to music...
What do you like most about living in Wiltshire?
Wiltshire has such a wonderful heritage, and it is so close to great places like Bath. I am proud to be a moonraker.
Where would you recommend for a great evening out and why?
The Barge at Seend is a lovely old pub right by the canal and we often go there on special occasions or for a snack in the summer. It's really nice on a summer's evening. We also go to The Poplars in Wingfield.
Who would be your ideal dining partner and why?
There's nothing better than a meal with my whole family, with everyone together. However, I would have enjoyed having dinner with Margaret Thatcher as she's a great lady.
Which local landmark or attraction would you recommend?
If it is in a good condition, the Westbury White Horse is really beautiful. Other than that, we really like the Kennet and Avon canal at Bradford on Avon.
What is your favourite book and why?
I am wading through Pride and Prejudice at the moment, but I prefer biographies to novels really. I read a really good biography of Winston Churchill the other day.
Favourite music and why?
I enjoy classical music mainly, but I do like some of the modern Christian music too. My favourites are Mozart and Handel I love Mozart's clarinet concerto, which they used in Out of Africa.
If you were to start a new business in the county what would it be and why?
I think we really need a good men's outfitting shop. We have a lot of clothes shops in Trowbridge but I think we really need a good quality one something like Marks and Spencer.
If there is one thing missing from the county what is it?
There needs to be more recreational facilities for youngsters. I would like to see more sports facilities and cinemas for the young people to go to in their spare time.
Which annual event is a must and why?
We always go to the carnival in Trowbridge in September. There's always a big procession with illuminated floats, which is nice.
