THE great shot of the Spitfire in the March 10 edition celebrating its 70th anniversary leads me to suggest that this aircraft had far better credentials than Concorde, which won the Great British Design Quest in BBC 2's Culture Show.
Most of what you saw when Concorde was airborne was of French design, that is to say all of the huge wing and those parts of the fuselage that were directly integral with it; I would say at least 75 per cent of the structure.
The Supermarine Spitfire was 100 per cent British, right down to the last rivet!
