HOLIDAY company, Center Parcs, which owns a site in Warminster, has agreed to a takeover bid from private equity group Blackstone, valuing it at £205.4m.
Center Parcs said it had "a number of material and financial operational constraints" which made accepting the deal a prudent move. These include the rising price of gas and electricity, combined with an increase in the minimum wage.
A spokesperson for Blackstone said: "If the scheme becomes effective, the existing employment rights, including existing pension rights, of all Center Parcs employees will be safeguarded."
Last year, about one-and-a-half million visitors stayed at the four holiday villages Center Parcs runs around the UK in Nottinghamshire, Suffolk and Cumbria as well as in Wiltshire.
Blackstone has previously invested in leisure operations such as Legoland and Universal Studios.
