THE average property price in Chippenham is £206,936 which is quite a bit above the national average.
Prices did drop a little bit over the last three months of 2005 but are now far higher than they were in the spring of last year when the average price was only £193,906.
Chippenham is very popular with commuters as the town is close to the M4 and has regular direct train services to London Paddington which take just over an hour. Due to this the town also has a booming buy-to-let market.
The average price for a flat in the town is £113,000, while at the other end of the scale you can expect to pay an average of £294,000 for a detached property. Terraced properties are more expensive than in a lot of towns, fetching an average price of £170,000, while semi-detached homes sell for around £185,000.
Property prices in the town are now more realistic so they are selling a lot easier. At the peak of the boom the average price in Chippenham was as high as £223,000 and over the last five years prices have always been above the national average.
As there is plenty of demand for property in the town it is quite easy to sell, providing the property is competitvely priced.
