SHEER CLASS Home Improvements is based at Semington Turnpike, near Trowbridge.
Originally specialising in windows and doors the company has branched out over the last 12 months to offer a whole range of home improvements, from brand new kitchens and stunning fitted bedrooms to conservatories. If the company is carrying out major building work it will see the whole process through, from obtaining planning permission through to the finished product.
Steve Blanks is the managing director of Sheer Class and says that most of the staff are experienced joiners and so they have taken this experience on board to expand the business by fitting wooden kitchens and bedrooms as well as adding wooden panelling anywhere in your home, from the entrance hall to the bathroom.
One area of the business which is particularly popular at the moment is the kitchen element.
As well as installing completely new kitchens the company also carries out kitchen makeovers, where it replaces the doors on the units and put in new worktops without having to completely demolish the old kitchen.
"This is particularly popular with older people who can't stand weeks of upheaval," says Steve. "By using this method you can have a new-look kitchen in just a few days."
Sheer Class is also fabricators and producers of solid surface acrylic granite worktops. "These worktops look like granite but the great thing about them is that you can't see the joins," says Steve. "We make a template first of all and then cut the worktop accurately out of the acrylic granite and shape it. It then takes about half a day to fit it.
"The beauty of it is that you can also have a sink the same colour as the worktop if you want. "Also if you get any scratches in it the worktop can be repaired so that it looks as good as new."
Sheer Class is Wiltshire's only supplier of Charles Yorke kitchens, which are aimed at the higher end of the market, a fact which Steve is very proud of. "It's great as it means people have now recognised that we can do more than just windows, doors and conservatories," he says.
As well as the kitchens Sheer Class can also supply all the appliances from leading names such as Neff, AEG and Bosch. A lot of the kitchens are imported from Italy and there are a range of traditional and modern designs.
"Italians have a flair for design and it really shows in these kitchens," says Steve.
Customers can choose the elements they want in their kitchen and Sheer Class will go to their homes, measure up and create a 3-D design which they can see on the computer.
"Our kitchens are designed around people's wish lists," says Steve. "People don't just have to have what is on show they can have what they want. We can also order the units and appliances for people to install themselves."
The company also offers a range of environmentally friendly products such as waste disposal systems and eco bins. "Waste disposal and composting is something for everyone to think about and plan for and so we are beginning to address that," says Steve.
Much of the work Sheer Class carries out comes from referrals. "We are passionate about what we do and believe that communication with the customer is very important," says Steve.
There are a range of different style kitchens on display at the Sheer Class showroom, which is at Unit 7, Semington Turnpike, near Trowbridge.
