ALTHOUGH property prices have stabilised over the last 12 months they have increased so much since 2001 that it is beoming increasingly difficult for first-time buyers to find an affordable property, forcing many to carry on renting or stay at home with their parents.

However, in west and north Wiltshire there are still some cheaper properties available, and these are ideal for getting a foot on the property ladder. Prices may not be rising as much as they were but if you decide to sell you are unlikely to lose money and if you carry out a bit of work on the property you may even make a substantial profit.

Many of the cheaper properties available are also centrally located, making it ideal for commuters and people looking for easy access to the shops. For those looking to live in Bradford on Avon it is increasingly difficult to find property for under £100,000, although if you have a bit of extra cash you could buy a flat in The Maltings for around £112,000.

The cheapest properties tend to be in Trowbridge in the Bramley Lane or Shails Lane areas. In north Wiltshire prices are a little more expensive but if you are looking for a place in Chippenham, properties in Field View go for around £87,000 and in Dew Close, Corsham, the average price is around £92,000.
