OVER the past 20 years the centre of Trowbridge has been completely destroyed by talk of future visions.

These visions were clearly not very good visions as they never foresaw the problems of getting planning approved after they decimated the heart of Trowbridge.

Now we look like a town that has a huge mole infestation as all you can see is huge mole heaps of stone. You wonder where the next heap will appear. It appears Bythesea Road is the next to be attacked by the mole infestation. Perhaps this was the new vision of Trowbridge, to turn everything into heaps of rubble and to send a culture statement out to the world of how things will look after President Bush and Mr Blair has finished God's Message.

Perhaps they have got the vision correct. Perhaps rubble heaps are the projected future. If this is our Future i just hope Bob the builder finds his way to Trowbridge. After all everything that Bob builds only falls down so I am sure he'll feel perfectly at home in our culture statement to the world.

  • AS A native of Trowbridge, on holiday from my home in Spain, I am intrigued by the controversy surrounding the council tax increase.

It would appear that the majority of the electorate are against the massive increase and have vented their resentment, quite rightly, on the councillors who have authorised it.

I wonder why there is not the same type of outcry in my area of Spain local ex-businessmen, usually retired, serve with no remuneration to administer the needs of the community.

Do we have a more professional approach in Spain, with people more versed in the business world?
