SEX offender Kenneth Jones has been told to expect to go to jail after admitting trying to rape a young girl.
The 38-year-old, of Westbourne Road, Trowbridge, was remanded in custody after pleading guilty at Swindon Crown Court to the attempted rape of a child under the age of 13.
Adam Vaitilingham, defending, said his client's admission of the offence, which took place on November 11, was on a specific basis.
"In short the defendant's basis of plea is that the girl was an active participant in this sexual activity and that he believed that she was 16 at the time," he said. Judge John McNaught adjourned the case until April 7 so a pre-sentence report can be compiled on the defendant. Jones was remanded in custody and will have to register as a sex offender.
