WHILE taking scant note of Tony Blair's justification for going to war in Iraq inspired by divine guidance, I am reminded of the following.

My mother, who passed away last week in her 106th year in Bath Royal United Hospital, gave her profound opinion on her 103rd birthday of her non-religious beliefs on the same topic.

Her view was that God was not in Heaven, but in County Hall and the House of Commons. These two opposing edicts leave me, as a mere octogenarian, in total confusion.
