MAYORS from down the years met up in Warminster on Friday to reminisce about their roles as civic leaders.
Current mayor Les Rose decided to organise the meeting and 13 former civic leaders turned up to enjoy an afternoon of buffet and chat. Mr Rose, whose term as mayor ends in May, said: "It was a very good afternoon and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The oldest mayor was in his 90s and there were two ladies in their 80s.
"The idea was suggested to me last January by the then mayor Martin Baker so I thought I'd lay something on now. I decided to organise it as my last throw of the dice as mayor of Warminster. I've enjoyed my year and been extremely busy. "I think I must have broken the record for the amount of engagements I've done."
He said the event had been a great success and he hoped it would be the first reunion of many. Deputy mayor Dorothea Sultana de Maria, who will be taking over from Mr Rose, and west Wilts MP Dr Andrew Murrison also attended the event in the chamber at Dewey House.
