A CARE worker is being forced out of her own home in the middle of the night because of rowdy neighbours.
The 22-year-old, who asked not to be named, has compiled a dossier over 12 months detailing the problems she has had at her Francis Street home in Trowbridge.
She said she has to put up with loud music at all hours, intimidating drug users and DIY being done in the middle of the night. She often has to go and stay with her parents just so she can get some sleep before getting up for work.
She said: "To be honest this is dictating my life. Sometimes I just can't go home. The music doesn't go on until really late, other times it is in the morning. "I work shifts but there doesn't seem to be any time I can get some rest. Even on my day off I can't sit down in peace and quiet in my own home."
The young woman, who works with adults with learning disabilities, has lived in her flat for two years and said she has had problems with various neighbours for the whole time she has lived there.
She has complained to landlords West Wiltshire Housing Society and was asked to keep a diary of the problems. She said she done this for over a year but the problems are still continuing. "They did come around and speak to them and the problem died off for a bit but then it just started up again.
"I work and I pay my rent and we all have a contract we have to keep to that says about noise disturbance and I just want to know why nothing has been done about this for so long."
A spokesman for the housing society said they were looking into the issue and were due to meet another tenant in the same building, who has similar complaints, this week.
She said: "She contacted us last Friday and on the files we have other cases, one dating from 2004 and one from 2005. We understood these matters had been resolved but we will be looking into it again.
"We do take these matters very seriously. We can call in mediators and if a solution can't be found and anti-social behaviour is proven we can evict somebody, so we do have a strong and robust process that we use."
The tenant said some of the people visiting the block of flats are using drugs and are intimidating to approach. Some residents play loud techno music into the early hours the morning and even hammer of the walls in the middle of the night.
"I have had to phone my parents at 3am and ask if I can go around to get some rest because I have to be up for work in the morning."
