RAISING money for a good cause is helping to keep alive the memory of a Melksham woman who died in a car crash.
The family of 26-year-old Michelle Phillips, who died in a three-car smash in Devon in 2004, have now raised over £6,500 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance in her name.
Good friend Stuart Natt, along with Miss Phillips' parents, Sandra and John, of Bowerhill, presented a cheque for £1,307 to the air ambulance staff in Devizes. Mrs Phillips said: "It helps us all and gives us something to focus on while raising money for a good cause. I think Michelle would have been very chuffed."
The money was raised at a music event held at the Melksham Assembly Hall, in January where Miss Phillips sometimes helped out behind the bar. Mr and Mrs Phillips and their sons, Darren and Darrel, along with their families, plan to keep on raising funds for the air ambulance.
The music event, featuring popular local group the Zig Zag Band, marked what would have been Miss Phillips' 28th birthday and the next big event is planned to coincide with her parents' ruby wedding anniversary in August.
