CALNE FC Yellow maintained their unbeaten record with a 6-4 win at Wroughton Youth in the third round of the Wiltshire U15 Cup.

Neither team had played for a month and both were defending unbeaten records but on nine minutes Calne’s Rory Worthington made a run into the box, was brought down and Matt Strevens calmly put away the penalty.

A great shot from Worthington made it it 2-0 but Wroughton caught Calne out on the break to pull a goal back on 25 minutes.

The visitors regained the lead just before half time when a good cross into the box was headed in by Oliver Coulson.

Wroughton came out in the second half looking as though they had something to prove and soon halved their deficit.

Calne missed a number of chances – the best one being when Stuart Allen hit the crossbar – and were made to pay in the final 30 seconds as Wroughton levelled to take it to extra time.

Man of the match Strevens popped up to score a great goal on seven minutes in, but Wroughton levelled again.

In the second period, two quick goals from Coulson and Worthington put Calne in the quarter finals.

Devizes Town Youth ran out 3-0 winners over Croft Juniors in their tie.

U13s LEAGUE CUP

TROWBRIDGE Town Youth A finally completed their league cup tie, but it was the Gladiators who progressed 3-0.

U10 RED DIVISION

IN a top-of-the-table clash, second-placed Bishops Cannings kept a clean sheet against leaders Devizes Town Youth, running out 2-0 winners to narrow the gap between the two to just three points.

U11s BLUE DIVISION

ANOTHER top of the table clash saw leaders FC Chippenham run out narrow 3-2 winners against second place Westbury Youth Spitfires.

It needed a great comeback from 2-0 down to give Chippenham the points as Westbury made the stronger start and scored twice early on.

Chippenham, who had last played a match on December 5 lacked sharpness, but the comeback started five minutes before half time when sustained pressure led to a goalmouth scramble and Toby Ferguson fired home.

On the restart Westbury forced a good save from Chippenham keeper Alex Bowers.

But Sam Costain levelled the match with a bursting run to the edge of the box and a great strike after a good build up involving Harry Vickers and Kieran Fitzwater.

Then, Christian Frimpong worked patiently on the edge of the box to get a pinpoint cross in and Costain headed home the winner.

U13 BLUE DIVISION

A SECOND-HALF goal from James edged Biddestone FCY past a hard-working Trowbridge Town Youth B team.

U13 GREEN DIVISION

BROMHAM Youth moved up one place to the top of the table on goal difference, level on points with Amesbury Juniors Tigers, after running out 6-0 winners at Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

U13 RED DIVISION

MERE FC took a comfortable 3-1 lead at the break against visitors Derry Hill United and eventually ran out 11-4 winners.

There were hat-tricks from Aaron Thorne and Seth Guy-Knapp, with Dan Watts netting a brace and singles from William Buckton, Fergus Smith and Jake Francis.
