FC Chippenham U9's football team are still pinching themselves after receiving an invitation via Wiltshire FA to play at Wembley on August 6th.
The event co-sponsored by the FA and McDonalds is called the National Football Festival and the boys will initially travel to a training facility at Northwick Park where they will play three friendlies, the team will then travel onto Wembley where they will play a 10 minute match on the hallowed Wembley turf.
The boys will then receive commemorative medals from the Royal box after walking up the 172 stairs.
The invitation caps a wonderful season for both the A and B teams that saw the A team win their league and come runners up in the Cup and the B team come runners up in their league.
Both teams have also enjoyed a successful summer winning a recent tournament at Highworth and taking two trophies at the White Horse tournament at Beversbrook in Calne.
Steve Francis and Ian Brown who manage the two sides commented "The Wembley trip just caps a fantastic season for the boys, we both still can't believe that we'll all play at Wembley"
The two teams both need sponsors for next year and might be able to get the new sponsors shirts in time for the Wembley trip, if you are interested please contact Ian @ ian@redspotmarketing.com or 01249 700772.
The club is still looking to recruit players so please use the same contact information if your child is looking to play next year in the U10's.
