The Advanced Development Centre try to emulate a professional club’s youth department by giving players the opportunity to receive professional coaching and to play in a games programme against players from other professional clubs.
The Advanced Development Centre will play the Centre of Excellence at Swindon, plus other Centres of Excellences and Development Centres including; Bristol Rovers, Cardiff City, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Cheltenham, Torquay United, Plymouth Argyle, Wycombe Wanderers, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The emphasis is purely on development, giving players maximum opportunities without affecting any of their existing club commitments. The Development Centre operates on a non profit making basis.
The Development Centre operates similarly to a Centre of Excellence where players are assessed twice a year, which can result in being kept on or released from the Development centre scheme.
The Development Centre acts as a direct feeder to the Centre of Excellence at Swindon Town FC, where Jeremy Newton is the Director of the Centre of Excellence. Players from the 2008/2009 Development squads have signed for the Centre of Excellence, and other boys from the Advanced Development Centre are due to go on trial.
The players at the Advanced Development Centre will be monitored as to their progression which shall be reported directly to the player and his parents and as appropriate to Swindon Town’s Centre of Excellence.
Paul Harvey is Director of Coaching at the Development Centre, with Paul Naylor his assistant.
TRIAL TIMES AND DATES The trials will take place at Stanley Park, London Road, Chippenham, Wiltshire. SN153RR on Wednesday 5th August, and Wednesday 12th August 2009, and will continue for two weeks at the same venue and time. All age groups will trial at the same time between 6pm and 8pm.
