The Properties Department are tasked with spending wisely, and investing in, sustainable projects and activities at all times while working towards more efficient energy-saving systems.
Where possible, the aim is to provide Trowbridge with an identity by staying within a recognisable colour scheme and maintaining our assets at the highest possible standard.
As part of this corporate identity we have started a programme of painting items of street furniture around the town with a black and gold theme.
Many people have commented that they have started to notice our efforts on such things as the finger post project, which we have “future proofed” to ensure that we can point the way to any future developments, such as the Shires Gateway, the new library information service and the waterside project.
You will notice that street furniture such as benches, bins, CCTV poles, street bollards and our planter boxes have all been painted with the same identity.
In addition to these projects, within our recreation and play areas, we have adopted the identity on all our signage, bins and fencing.
The project of replacing all the town entrance signs and planter boxes is now complete, and we are continuing to work with Wiltshire Council to replace, or make extra provision for, new bus shelters. These shelters are requested by members of the public and only following a consultation period would these be put in place.
We continue to work on our partnerships which includes the town centres CCTV monitoring, Trowbridge Pub and Club Watch, the Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce Retail Impact Group, and of course you, the members of public, who make requests or highlight where you believe there is a need for future improvement.
At this time of year we are working hard towards making the town blooming marvellous by working with the Friends of Trowbridge in Bloom committee to install the planting scheme around our town, all of which should be in place by the production of this supplement.
We have, over the past three months, been conducting a project to enhance and refurbish the CCTV monitoring room, working in partnership with the Shires Management, Trowbridge Police, Trowbridge Community Area Future and the 5-Towns initiative group (the latter two of which have provided funding towards this project).
This will ensure the future-proofing of the system and will make the system and the operation more effective while providing us with the opportunity to add new cameras.
We also have a reviewing suite at the Town Council which enables us to provide auditable reports, thus proving the efficiency of the system.
We are continuing to work towards replacing the old, inefficient systems which will enable us to make more utilities savings. There is also a programme in place providing good maintenance of our assets thus ensuring longevity.
If you feel that the Town Council can help enhance the town further, making it a better and safer place to live, contact the Properties Department at the Town Council. All requests are treated fairly and appropriately within our Properties committee structure.
