IT was a closely fought battle for the Melksham Central seat with just 20 votes separating the Lib Dems and the Conservatives.
Steve Petty secured the seat for the Lib Dems, beating Tory Philip Alford into second place.
Labour's miserable run of results in these Wiltshire Council elections continued, with candidate Jo Sibley coming in last.
Steve Petty (Lib Dem) 554
Philip Alford (Cons) 534
Jo Sibley (Lab) 110
Turnout: 32.69%
