Erlestoke Prison governor Andy Rogers can huff and puff about drugs all he likes (Wiltshire Times, May 22) but that won’t change the basic injustice of imprisoning people for non-violent drug crimes.
Doing so violates the law of God. Exodus 21.23 says “life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise”.
Also see Leviticus 24.20, Deuteronomy 19.21.
When no-one has been murdered, no-one has been blinded, no teeth have been knocked out and no injury whatsoever has occurred, any punishment for a drug crime is a moral abomination.
