The first election results for west Wiltshire seats are expected to be announced at Trowbridge Civic Hall at about 3pm.
Across the county, there are 1,000 volunteers taking part in the process and helping check votes, including those cast in the 94 ballot boxes now in Trowbridge for the 28 west Wiltshire seats.
There are 357 candidates taking part in the first-ever Wiltshire Council elections, with 98 people due to be elected.
Candidates across the county include: 12 BNP candidates, 98 Conservatives, 29 Independents, 55 Labour, 4 Devizes Guardians, 94 Liberal Democrats, 5 English Democrats, 48 UKIP and 9 Green candidates.
There are 95 people counting votes in Trowbridge.
Some of the county's quirkier polling stations included someone's kitchen in Brokenborough and the Poplars Pub in Wingfield.
