Warminster is gearing up for a cycling event that is expected to attract hundreds of people to the town later this month.
Warminster Cycle Group is putting in the final preparations for the ‘Warminster Wobble’ event on June 13 and June 14, designed to promote cycling throughout the county and coincide with National Bike Week.
On Saturday, there will be three rides, all of varying length to suit riders’ abilities, leaving the town park at 11.30am.
It will culminate in a barbecue at the Gingery Piggery in Boyton.
On Sunday, the mile-long Warminster Wobble ride will leave from the park at midday.
The day will include a BMX display, a bouncy castle, stalls, bike safety advice and refreshments.
Bike Week is the UK’s biggest mass participation cycling event.
This year it is challenging families to get more out of life by swapping their four wheels for two and exploring new places in their local community.
“Cycling is a great way of keeping fit and enjoying the beautiful Wiltshire countryside – and it’s something the whole family can enjoy,” said Patrick McEune, Wiltshire Council’s group road safety manager.
“We know that more than half of all car journeys are less than five miles long, so by switching them to an easy thirty minute bike ride, you’ll save money and get fit too.
