The emergency services were called out to Center Parcs near Warminster on Sunday afternoon after a 10-year-old boy fell from an abseiling wall.

The boy who had been taking part in an abseiling activity is thought to have fallen from the top of the apparatus ten feet below to the lower level.

Simon Kay, press officer for Center Parcs, said: "The boy had been climbing up the inside of the wall where there are ladders and then a standing level and then more ladders.

"It seems the boy had almost got to the top of the wall when he must have lost his footing or lent back and fallen 10 feet to the level below."

The incident which happened at about 2pm was attended by firefighters, mountain rescue, an ambulance and police due to his isolated position inside the wall.

Mr Kay said: "He was complaining of back pain but it wasn't the injuries that brought all of the emergency services to the park, it was his isolated location.

"They took about an hour to get him out, cutting away part of the abseiling wall.

"We have been in contact with the boy's mother this morning and she is full of praise to the emergency services and the staff at the park.

"I understand he has been discharged after visiting the hospital to have his injuries checked out."
