Plans to bring back local apple varieties, such as the Bedwyn Beauty and Roundway Magnum were discussed at a meeting in Corsham.
They would be part of a community orchard, Transition Community Corsham, told the meeting at an exhibition entitled Orchard at the Pound Arts centre on Tuesday.
The environmental group wants to establish both the orchard and new allotments.
TransCoCo member Adam Walton said: “I have a vision: children in primary school now would see the trees planted, and as they grew up, they would watch the trees grow.
“When they leave school, the trees will be mature and producing fruit. That would be a fantastic experience.”
Michael New told the meeting about the Wiltshire Traditional Orchard Project which aims to map all the surviving orchards in the county.
TransCoCo would be delighted to hear from anyone with a suitable site for both orchard and allotments.
The Orchard exhibition runs at the Pound until June 13. More details at www.transitioncommunitycorsham.org.uk.
