A 14-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after suffering lower back and upper neck injuries while playing football in Dilton Marsh near Westbury yesterday evening.
Great Western Ambulance Service was called just after 7pm last night to local playing fields.
An emergency care practitioner and a double manned ambulance were sent to the scene from Warminster station.
Justin Whatley, a staff responder with GWAS, who was at the incident, said: “We assessed the young man and stablised him immediately.
"Given the nature of his injuries we also called out the Wiltshire Air Ambulance who conveyed the patient to hospital with his mother.”
The patient was flown to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
