A garage has been vandalised less than a week after moving to its new premises in Westbury.

Alan Petrie Motors moved from its former premises in Fore Street, Westbury, to Trowbridge Road, Westbury, on April 27.

Four days later the firm became a victim of mindless vandalism, with oil poured over the premises, a door handle kicked off and an exhaust system stolen.

The incident, which caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage, happened between 9pm on May 1 and 9am on May 2.

Mr Petrie, 46, who has owned the company with his wife Vanessa, 34, for four years, said: “I locked up at around 9pm on the Saturday and everything was ok but when I came in on the Sunday morning someone had poured oil down the disabled access slope.

“You couldn’t walk down it, and it took ages to scrub off.

“By law with have to have a fire extinguisher outside and they let that off. They also kicked off a door handle in an attempt to gain access to a locked compound and stole an exhaust system.

“I had one incident of vandalism at my old site in four years and within the first week here, this happens.”
