On Friday evening Melksham Town supporters were entertained with some quality youth football when local talent and Professional Academies played one another in a fund raising event in aid of Melksham Town FC.
In a highly entertaining first game the Southampton Development Center under 11’s with 5 Melksham Youth Players in the team, narrowly lost 1-0, to an impressive Bristol Rovers Academy Team.
The game was looking to end in a draw until Bristol Rovers deservedly got the winner with a well worked goal and excellent finish 10 minutes from the end.
The highlight of the night was the under 13’s game between Coresoccer a locally Selected team including 6 Melksham Youth Players ,and the Bristol Rovers Academy Team, with Coresoccer taking an early lead from Aaron Ward-Baptiste with a well deserved goal.
Coresoccer could have added to their lead when a well hit shot from Lewis Russell rebounded off the cross bar.
Bristol Rovers finally equalized and got the winner in the final minutes with individual goals from Trey Anderson and Amwar Mohamed.
An excellent game which was a credit to both sides for some excellent football that entertained the crowd.
