Canine celebrity Harry and his owner Rob Fryer from Warminster have accepted a light-humoured apology from Vision Express after the 12-year-old dog received a letter from them saying he was due for an eye test.
Cllr Fryer of Portway, thinks the tongue-in-cheek response from the optician company was just the right response for Harry, who has been in the limelight ever since the blip occurred and was featured in last week’s Wiltshire Times.
Harry received a letter from the Warminster branch saying ‘Dear Harry, Our head office computer has obviously been working overtime in sending out reminders, and although we are not quite sure what we could do with your eyes, your family and friends would be very welcome to take advantage of the vouchers sent to you.
(You could always come with them in the role of fashion consultant as you look so good in your sunspecs, you obviously have good taste.)’ Mr Fryer said: “It was a good response because it was addressed to Harry and was very light-hearted, it also seemed to have an underlying dig at databases, which obviously go wrong now and again.
“I think Harry has got used to being a celebrity and may miss it now.”
