A case involving a young drink-driver has been adjourned after his friend admitted to spiking his drink.
Ben Wilkins, 20, from Eden Vale Road, Westbury, appeared at Chippenham Magistrates Court on Friday charged with drink driving in Westbury on April 5.
The court heard how Wilkins had drunk two pints of lager while out with a friend when he decided to drive home. Wilkins was subsequently pulled over by the police and gave a breath test which produced a reading of 62 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres, nearly double the limit.
Kate Blackmore, prosecuting, told the court his friend has now admitted to spiking Wilkins’ drink.
Police are currently investigating the claim and the case has been adjourned to May 28.
