Current and former Guides turned out in force at the weekend to celebrate 90 years of girl guides in Bradford on Avon.
Leaders, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows all helped out at the celebratory fundraiser in Westbury Gardens on Saturday with cake stalls, crafts, bric-a-brac and a raffle.
Joint District Commissioner for Bradford on Avon Guides, Bryony Green said: “A lot of young girls took forms away with them to become Brownies and Rainbows, which was great as it seems to be quite popular among girls at the minute.
“They were interested in our biscuit decorating and craft sessions.”
The day was organised to commemorate the 90-year anniversary since the first ever group was set up in the town and coincided with the 100-year anniversary of the guiding movement nationally.
More than 200 women and girls are members of the Bradford on Avon guides group, but organisers are looking for more recruits.
“We would like to encourage as many people as possible to join as guiding give the girls people skills and other skills that cannot be taught at school.”
Girls can join the Rainbows, Brownies, Rangers or Guides, depending on age and women can become guide leaders. For more details log on to www.girlguiding-boa.btik.com.
