Police were called to Green Lane Wood, West Ashton at 8.35 this morning after receiving reports of a shot being fired.
The caller told police they had heard the gun going off and then the sound of screaming.
Police from Trowbridge and the force helicopter went out.
Two vehicles were stopped but nothing was found.
