PREMIER DIVISION: An awesome second half display of their firepower and clinical finishing in front of goal saw Biddestone Social open up a two point lead over Corsham Centre A at the summit of the Robson Taylor, Chippenham League Premier division last night as they hammered a Maud Heath Sports side who were expected to give them a much closer game 9-1 Maud Heath who only lost the reverse fixture 2-1 took the lead when Darren Holcombe put them ahead on 14 minutes but they found themselves 2-1 down at the break to goals from Glenn Armstrong who was making a rare appearance but scored to level on 24 minutes when he knocked home after a neat head across goal from Jamie Lyons, Lyons himself then gave Biddy the lead in the 29th minutes wit ha delightful lob from 16 yards.
Biddestone knew how important it was that they added to their goals for tally in the second half so right from the off they threw players forward looking for goals and what followed would have been beyond their dreams and greatest expectations as they ran riot and hit seven unanswered goals, Dan Lardner made it 3-1 on 47 minutes when he headed home at the back post, Danny Jones then hooked the ball home from five yards in the 52nd minute made certain of the points.
The scoring then stopped for a short while but started again 20 minutes from time with Jamie Lyons adding number five with a fine finish from 10 yards, and number six came in the 74th minute when Mike Few was on hand at the far post to finish of a good team move, two quick goals from Shahram Hemmati in the 77th and 79th minutes accounted for goals seven and eight, his first was a close range volley and his second saw him beat a clutch of players before firing home from eight yards.
It was left to joint manager Danny Jones to complete the scoring a minute from time with his second of the night and his teams ninth when he beat the Sports keeper from close range to wrap up an emphatic win for the leaders ahead of Sunday’s possible championship decider with Corsham Centre A.
