Six hospital wards at the Royal United Hospital in Bath will be affected by construction work from Monday as a two-month project gets underway.
The toilets and washrooms in Pierce, Philip Yeoman, Forrester Brown, Waterhouse, Parry and Haygarth wards are being upgraded and refurbished as part of a £9m investment programme.
Howard Jones, director of estates and facilities at the RUH, said they are aiming to keep disruption to patients to a minimum with infection control another priority for the hospital.
He said: “Remodelling or building in a hospital can be tricky but we have paid close attention to controlling noise, dust and vibrations and there has been a great deal of work from all parties involved to successfully complete this project in a hospital that never closes.”
