Roads surrounding a Bradford on Avon school were jam packed with cars as families descended on the town for an annual May fair yesterday.
The Christ Church Primary School May fair proved to be a popular attraction as people flocked to enjoy stalls, games, animal attractions and food.
Children who came along to the fair, held in the grounds of the Berryfield Road school, made the most of miniature steam train rides, badge making and face painting.
Grandmother Anne Derek, who lives in Bradford on Avon, had brought along her 16 months old grandson Jack.
“He had a lovely time and I think it’s brilliant,” he said.
“He particularly enjoyed the animals as there was a little pen of rabbits that he could stroke.
“We also got some nice toys, so it was a really nice thing to do despite the weather.”
The animals were brought along to the event, organised by the Friends of Christ Church School (FOCCS), by June Fleming, chairman of the Hope Nature Centre, which is based at Southwick Country Park near Trowbridge.
She said: “The children love it. They have had a chance to meet Millie, our goat who is three and very friendly and also three nine-week-old rabbits.
“It’s nice to let the children do something like this but also to promote our project.”
Food was also a big part of the event, as visitors enjoyed a barbecue and healthier options at the Christ Church Cafe, while everything from plants to jewellery, nearly new goods, raffle tickets and cakes were among the items on sale.
